MEETING OF THE MARKED
i love pittsburgh. it’s a fantastic city. yeah, being from the philly area, people may talk some shit, but it’s a damn fine city. it will alway be my home away from home. there’s not a better bar on the planet than the smiling moose, and there’s not a better roll than the OMGT from sushi 3!
but i digress. this halloween weekend, as is every halloween weekend, was the meeting of the marked. this is my first year doing this convention, and i had a blast. it was the exact crowd i would expect from pittsburgh, WONDERFUL. i stayed jumpin busy all weekend, and had to turn away people in the end. i got to do a lot of fun pieces, including a string of little zombie heads, which were on special due to the holiday and the city (how can’t you tattoo cheap zombie heads in pittsburgh, the home of romero?!)
unfortunately they’ve ousted the cover up and flash competitions from MOM due to lack of participation, so my efforts of selecting and framing were for naught. but i was told if there is more of a demand to enter things, it may be brought back. so get your shit together and do some cover ups and draw some flash!!
i may not have been able to enter in those categories, but i was able to enter tattoo of the day every day, and, with much diligence, was able to claim tattoo of the day on sunday for my rather large convoluted aztec quexacoatl tattoo, done on a head. yes, a head. keep an eye out for pics, they’ll be up next week.
i’d love to do this convention next year, but i missed my kids trick or treating this year and i don’t want to miss it again. so keep an eye out for me in 2011!!
